Custom Designed Invitations

Once Upon A Time Weddings began four years ago, when during my engagement I was frustrated with looking through invitation binders and seeing the same boring and generic invitations.  I was not impressed with the printable invitations and the run of the mill stationery.  So I began designing and playing around with ideas for an invitation that would stand out and let our guests know what to expect at our big event.  We got married at the Lamplighter Inn and had a beach themed wedding.  I remember buying supplies from the dollar store and Michaels and working away on invitations.  By the time they were done, I probably spent twice as much as I would have had I just ordered them, but I was also proud of the invitation and got such good responses from them.  After the wedding, I began designing more invitations and helping friends make beautiful invites for showers, birthdays, weddings and other special occasions.


I love working on invitations and creating something that expresses the couples personality, wedding themes and other special symbols or flowers.  The invitation is the first thing that a guest will see that reflects what the wedding will be like.

Our wedding invitations run from $3-$8 an invitation and always include your reply card and envelopes.  We have some samples of previous invitations we've done or we can custom design some for the couple.  We can make invitations for weddings, showers (bridal or baby), graduation parties, prom, birthdays, anniversaries and many other special occasions.

Easter Hours

Once Upon A Time Weddings will be closed on Friday, April 22nd for Good Friday.  We'll be open Saturday 9:30-5 and closed Sunday, April 24 for Easter Sunday.  We'll be open Monday 9:30-6.  If you need an appointment on Friday or Sunday just give us a call at 519-319-9441.

3rd Annual Strathroy Caradoc Wedding Show

Strathroy Caradoc Wedding Show is this Sunday, April 17th.

Website Wednesday

Today for Website Wednesday, I wanted to share with you the website of two sisters who run a company called Beauty and Bling.  Kristine and Brandi work together and use only the best products to deliver the ultimate make up application for your wedding, prom or other special occasion.  I have had the pleasure of having them do my models makeup at a couple of bridal show.  Not only are these professional, they also are amazing at what they do.  Whether you're looking for a modern, romantic, simple, glamour or vintage look these ladies will be able to exceed your expectations.

Tip Tuesday

Well it's definitely starting to feel like Spring out.  Sunday was such a beautiful day.  We spent most of it inside at the Bridal Confidential bridal show at the Lamplighter Inn.  Going back to the Lamplighter always makes me nostalgic as it was where I said I do to my husband almost four years ago.

Anyways back to the post, I thought it would be appropriate to give you a few tips on wedding showers today as I know many brides who are having "Spring Showers".

At your shower have your maid of honor or mother sit beside you and write down the gifts that you receive on the cards that people gave you.

Pass out envelopes that fit your thank you cards and have each of your guest write their address on it. This will save you time writing out everyone's addresses on their thank you card envelope after the shower.

Get those thank you cards out in the mail within a couple of weeks of the shower.  Do not wait until after the wedding when you'll have all the wedding thank you's to do too.

Be sure to update your registries before the shower and make sure there are lots of gifts in different price ranges.

Be sure to thank everyone for coming, thank the hostess for putting on the shower and thank everyone for their love and support as you prepare for the wedding!

I think these shirts would be super cute for your girls to wear to identify them at showers and stag and doe's.

More than Wedding Gowns Monday...

Today on the blog, it's more than Wedding Gowns Mondays..  It's where we showcase one of the other services or products that we carry.

We have a wide range of gowns in the store in both price range and style range.  Today I wanted to showcase some of the less formal gowns in the store, gowns that would be situable for a special occasion or as a guest to a wedding.

Website Wednesday

Well it is most definitely starting to feel like Spring out there.  Spring is a time of growth and beauty.  And I am excited because our little town of Strathroy is really growing.  We've got a few new businesses joining us in our downtown core and a few new businesses opening up that are related to weddings.  We're so exciting, because we believe that it is possible for a bride and groom to plan their entire wedding in Strathroy.  If you're from out of town, come discover all the services that Strathroy has to offer.

Website Wednesday is when Once Upon A Time Weddings shares a website that I feel would be beneficial to you during your wedding planning process. 

Ever have trouble picking out colors or knowing which colors would match?  Not sure what color to accent your main wedding color with?  Then this is the site for you.  I found this site through their facebook fan page and fell in love with it.  The company is called The Perfect Palette.  They do these cute little inspiration boards in different colors to give you all sorts of ideas for your own wedding day.  Like this one:

More than just Weddings Monday...

Today's blog post showcases some of the stationery that Once Upon A Time Weddings offers.  We carry a lot more than just wedding gowns, so if you haven't stopped into the store, then come see us.  It is also our April special.

The thing that I love most about weddings is the little details.  I love to design beautiful invitations that let your guests know what your wedding will be like.  But I also love to follow that through with the little things at the reception, like table number, place card settings, menu cards and seating charts.  I think it really makes your wedding stand out when you've thought through all the little details.

Gown of the Week

Once Upon A Time Weddings feautured gown of the week is an Alfred Sung gown from their Always Collection.  This is a simple, yet elegant gown that can be worn plain or with any of the Always Collection belts and straps.  This gown is available in white, diamond white, ivory or dark ivory and as either a lace up back or zipper.  This gown retails for $1228, but until April 9th it is 10% off in store.
